Our Story1

Even Coffee started because I wanted to combine my two passions psychological services (therapy) and roasting really Freaking good coffee. I'd say I checked both of those boxes. Now I'm focused on growing.

We're a small specialty roastery based in Chicago. We source single-origin beans from around the world, currently I've got Costa Rica, Ethiopia, India, and Sumatra. I roast them in small batches to bring out what makes each origin unique.

But the mission goes beyond the coffee.

At least 25% of every sale goes directly to sliding-scale mental health therapy in the Chicagoland area. Sliding scale means that people pay what they can; This means people who couldn't otherwise access care, get it. As Even Coffee grows, so does the fund.

So far we have helped fund over 40 sessions of therapy for people who wouldn't have otherwise been able to afford it.

Even Coffee is led by Denali Keefe, a researcher at Northwestern University and a PhD Candidate at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, focused on mental health access and community well-being. The idea was simple: build a business that people genuinely enjoy and make the positive impact automatic. You buy great coffee. Someone gets therapy. No extra steps.
